Salvage servers and Edge computing in large-scale renewable deployments

From Our Networks 2047

This talk describes a recent project to re-assemble and deploy a large-scale salvage server cluster for edge computing applications on the off-shore wind crofts of the Outer Hebrides. After a mostly successful first year we report on the potential to apply this model in other contexts. While Salvage fabrication and disassembly design have fallen in and out of vogue over the last decade, perhaps predictably as desire to escape the austerity implied by each, we still see value in their use.
